Dear Editor and Reader,

In his column, Scott Maxwell wrote an opinion piece that vastly misrepresents the contributors to my campaign as well as Nicole Wilson’s campaign.  Unfortunately, he took Wilson at her word, assuming she’d be honest. However, upon a search of her contribution records one finds that she has been misleading the voters and Scott Maxwell.

 

She claims she has taken no developer money. False. She has taken multiple donations from Orlando’s biggest and most influential land use attorneys in our region (i.e. developer attorneys). Worse, it looks like she took their money while they were representing developments she is voting on!

Also she takes donations directly from developers. David Boers maxed out in donations, President of William-Edward Construction… prior to his donations she appointed him to the Orange County Planning and Zoning Board.

 

Which is worse - that Wilson took developer money or that she so easily lied to the public about it? We need honesty above all else.

 

As for my contributions, the piece again relied on Wilson for his story. We put out a pie chart showing our donors and one of the smallest “slivers” is from developers. Our campaign’s largest donor block is “retired” residents, we also have firefighters, teachers, small business owners, janitors, and dozens of other average day residents.

 

The reason so many different people have donated to my campaign is because the residents of District 1 are dissatisfied with Commissioner Wilson.  She is ineffective, often unavailable, constantly divisive, refuses to meet with people with whom she disagrees, and proving to be increasingly dishonest.
 

I do not play political games, I have never run for office. Residents will always know where I stand. If the Sentinel readers of District 1 Orange County agree, I ask for their vote.
